Safety and side effects

Radiesse appears to be very safe. Swelling, bruising and rare lumpiness have been observed with all fillers. Irregularity appears to be less of a problem with Radiesse when compared to many other fillers.

Questions and Answers

What should I do prior to a Radiesse treatment?

Avoid taking aspirin,St. John’s Wort and high doses of Vitamin E before 24 hours before you are to receive your Restylane treatment. These medicines may increase the amount of bleeding at the Restylane injection site.

Stay away from all anti-inflammatory medications like Advil, Motrin and Ibuprofen. These types of medications may cause both increased bleeding and bruising at the injection site.

Get a prescription strength anti-viral medication before your Restylane treatment on your lips and around your mouth. If you have a history of cold sores, your Restylane treatment may induce an outbreak. If you have any questions please call us at (802) 878-1236.

How does it work?

Who is a candidate?

Anyone with deep tissue loss (almost anyone over 35) is a candidate.

What can i expect?

You should notice immediate filling after Radiesse injection. There can be temporary mild swelling or bruising.

What is the recovery time?

Unless there is bruising, the only recovery time is a few days for the mild swelling to disappear.

Does it hurt?

We usually inject local anesthetic either before or with the Radiesse, and we use ice to numb the injection sites.

Before-treatment instructions:

You should tell Dr. Anderson about all the medicines that you are taking. If possible avoid aspirin, blood thinners, Vitamin E and ibuprofen and related pain medications for about 1 week before the procedure. Asprin products will increase your changes of brusing.

After-treatment instructions:

If there is swelling you can use ice. If there is discomfort, you can use Tylenol.
